ASUS has been producing smartphones for quite a few years but if something really noticeable is their gaming smartphone. Branded ASUS’ Republic of Gamers (ROG), the powered gaming phone is suitable for ROG-branded laptops. Back in July, ASUS launched its second gaming smartphone – the ASUS ROG Phone II – in partnership with Tencent. Extremely impressive in every way, the ASUS ROG Phone II is a super product of smartphone hardware and the original benchmarks tell us that it is one of the most powerful devices on the market. ASUS is currently bringing rog phone II to India with the same lumpy hardware and an incredible price.
The ASUS ROG Phone II is not a regular smartphone and is the first smartphone to be equipped with the Snapdragon 855 Plus. In India, too, the ROG Phone II will be the first smartphone to feature Snapdragon 855 Plus but that’s not the only highlight on the new device. The main core on the CPU and Adreno 640 GPU have been over pressed to 2.96GHz and 675MHz respectively.
The ROG Phone II comes with an excellent 120Hz refresh rate, a figure still unprecedented for AMOLED screens. The display is protected under Gorilla Glass 6 and certified for 10-bit HDR content. Users can set general parameters for higher refresh rates or even choose to set refresh rates for each app. The display has a touch sampling speed of 240Hz and latency of 49ms.
The ASUS ROG Phone II has up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of memory with UFS 3.0 technology. There is a 3D chamber to keep the heat under control but if that is not enough, ASUS has added a few real thermal vents on the phone. The smartphone does not come with the same physical fan as on the Nubia Red Magic 3, but you can use one of the external fans available for purchase separately.
The ASUS ROG Phone II is probably the only top smartphone with a massive 6,000mAh battery. There are two USB-C ports on the phone – one at the bottom and one on the side to allow charging in both configurations – horizontal and vertical -. The smartphone supports fast charging of up to 30W and the proprietary HyperCharge technology allows gamers to use the phone even while charging without getting hot. ASUS claims that one hour of charging will result in almost 36 hours of backup while the smartphone can last more than 7 hours when playing PUBG continuously, but at a 60Hz screen refresh rate.
For an engaging gaming experience, there’s a premium dual XYZ vibrating engine for anti-vibration in the direction. There are two front speakers on the smartphone for a powerful thoroughly. For India, ASUS has also added outdoor mode and FM radio for smartphones. In addition, ultrasonic trigger buttons, touch with pressure have also been added to smartphones just like the first-generation ROG Phone. The functionality of these triggers can be customized and there is a safeguard for accidental touching. ASUS said it would soon allow custom sliding operations on the ROG Phone II.
Regarding the camera, there is a Sony IMX586 48MP camera along with a 13MP wide-angle sensor on the back. On the front, there is a 24MP camera. Because the rear camera setup is similar to ASUS ZenFone 6 (ASUS 6Z India)
In terms of software, there are very few customizations to the original Android user interface. ASUS also allows to unlock the bootloader on the ROG Phone II but currently, there are very few custom ROMs, especially those that support it properly. In the current interface, you can choose between an AOSP-like user interface or a more active ROG user interface. There is only one app on a clean user interface, and it is the Armory Crate app that allows users to manage game-related resources on smartphones.
