Butcher’s Flail has been sought-after since the game released but there was no way to actually acquire it. However, with the release of Swamp of Corsus, you can finally get your hands on it. The best thing about Butcher’s Flail is its Corrosive Strike trait.
With the Corrosive Strike, you have a +50% chance of applying the CORRODED effect to targets, reducing their DEF by -15% for 10 seconds. Charged attacks have a +100% chance of applying the effect. Also, in case you have been wondering, you do not need to buy the Swamp of Corsus to use the Butcher’s Flail.
Getting the Butcher’s Flail is tied to scoring an Alternate Kill on the Unclean One. To find the Unclean One, you need to head over to the swampy region in Corsus and toward a deserted shack. There should no longer be a fog gate outside the boss arena – there was one back in the day.
To score the Alternate Kill, do not engage the Unclean One right off the bat. You need to look for a staircase leading down to the basement. Once you have made your way to the basement, find an open pot right next to a table and interact with it. After a few seconds, your screen will fade to black and you will notice the Unclean One in the basement.
The fight plays out exactly the same way as before. Try to maintain a safe distance and damage him from range if possible. Defeat the boss to receive the Hammerhead’s Ore. With the Hammerhead’s Ore in hand, return to Ward 13 and to the NPC who deals with boss items. Hand the Hammerhead’s Ore in and you will receive the Butcher’s Flail in return.
