With the release of Season of Arrivals, Destiny 2 has taken a small step toward the concept of Targeted Loot with its own flair thrown in there. The newly added Prismatic Recaster lets you farm for specific weapons or gear pieces that you need for your perfect build. One of the things that will take a lot of players long to unlock is called Trace Override. In this guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about how to unlock Trace Overrides and what they do in Destiny 2 Season of Arrivals.
Destiny 2 Season of Arrivals Trace Overrides
First of all, note that Trace Override is also a type of currency in the game along with Twisted Energy, Exotic Ciphers, and Altered Elements. This is what their in-game description says:
A component required for Improved Armor Focusing. Guardians who have unlocked this ability can use Trace Overrides to choose the primary stat of armor received from Umbral Engrams. Only a limited number become available each week.
In order to unlock Trace Overrides in Season of Arrivals, you need to have the Umbral Research Rank 7 unlocked.
This requires you to have a lot of Twisted Energy which is a rare currency in the game that can only be earned by completing the Weekly Bounties from Prismatic Recaster. There is also an Umbral Research that provides you with a very minute amount of Twisted Energy every time you open up an Umbral Engram. You will also need 5 Legendary Shards to unlock a Trace Override. Once unlocked, use them to get the Improved Armor Focusing Engrams at the bottom-most row in the Prismatic Recaster. Also, before I forget, you also need to be Rank 72 on the Season Pass to be able to do so. You can do so by completing as many bounties on all your character as possible.
Once unlocked, you will be able to get armor focused on different primary stats in the game: Recovery, Mobility, Resilience, Intelligence, Strength, and Discipline. This should allow you to get stats that you want for your build.
